When I was a student, I had a beard. I figured that for each day I did not shave, I was saving myself at least five minutes, so that over the course of a week, I would save half an hour or more. In a year, I could easily save a whole day – 24 hours. I loved student life and, from my pre-university stint in a research lab to accepting a ‘proper’ job, I spent seven glorious years studying, researching and having fun. And, as a bonus, by not shaving every day for those seven years, I had saved a whole week.
So when sudden and sad events forcibly delayed the start of this book, I consoled myself with knowing that I could still meet the publisher’s deadline, because I had seven days of time saved from my university life.
