In the previous chapter, I take you through all of the steps in my Persuasion Blueprint. In this chapter, I take you through an example script, to really see how all the steps play out and work together, and cover a few other aspects that may come up as you work through the steps.

Firstly, let's look at how my Persuasion Blueprint connects to the 4MAT System outlined in chapter 3.

Relating the Persuasion Blueprint to the 4MAT System

As covered in chapter 3, the 4MAT System is all about answering four main questions to increase the chances of all members of your audience having their needs meet. The four questions are Why?, What?, How? and What if? or What else? These four main questions are also answered through the steps of my Persuasion Blueprint.

Here's how the language patterns of the two systems relate:

  • Steps 0 to 5 of the Persuasion Blueprint answer the Why? question.
  • Step 6 answers the What? question.
  • Step 7 answers the How? question.
  • Steps 8 to 13 answer the What if? or What else? question.

Looking at an example script

Table 6.1 shows you a thorough five-step analysis process (refer to chapter 2) for a real presentation that was created by a client of mine. I have changed his real name to Steve at his request. The names of the organisation and departments have been also been changed.
