Why thinking has stopped
That would be an exaggeration. We haven’t stopped thinking. But the process of thinking in business has become problematic. Senior executives like Ian Parker, CEO of insurer Equity Red Star, describe the difficulty of stopping to think when the machine he’s running is moving so fast with so many parts whirring at once. Others blame the US style of management where quantity and pace of activity wins over quality of thinking and where stopping to think is seen as akin to stopping work.
