Understanding the Human Animal
Have you heard of horse whisperers? They are a special type of trainers who have rare insight into the needs and behavior of horses. Unlike the old-fashioned horse trainers, horse whisperers guide the animal with patience and have a profound grasp of equine psychology. With this in-depth knowledge, they gently elicit the horse’s cooperation and respect using methods the animal innately understands. In a way, a horse whisperer is a mind reader who knows how a horse he works with feels. Are its ears pulled backward? Nostrils flared? Tail swishing? Hind leg lifted? The horse whisperer knows those signals mean watch out! (Horseback riders with shattered kneecaps obviously missed them.)
