Maximizing image potential is an important aspect of design, and this chapter describes how to do this, including selecting parts of images, and manipulating and editing images. It also discusses how images can be improved, which nowadays is usually done with software.
There are a number of ways in which images can be changed, ranging from retouching damaged or difficult areas, through adjusting contrast and color, to deleting unwanted sections. Another approach is to change the appearance of the image overall by changing it from color to black and white or from a tonal image to line.
