Disk diagnostics include bdf, df, ioscan, and iostat, which also provides data on terminal I/O. Glance and sar also provide disk-related data. Some of the tools report on inode utilization. An inode is a data structure used by the kernel and the file system metadata associated with each file open in the kernel and each file that exists on the disk. There are in-core inodes and on-disk indoes, each of which have a particular format.
Bdf is the name given to the Berkeley version of the df (disk free) command in HP-UX. It is listed as a performance metric for its resource consumption metrics of on-disk inodes and file system disk space.
