10.6. Network Metrics
A variety of global and per-process network metrics are available for identifying potential bottlenecks in network I/O. The tools glance(1), gpm(1), lanadmin(1M), and netstat(1) all provide methods for accessing network metrics.
10.6.1. Global Network Saturation Metrics
There are no direct metrics available to indicate that a network device is saturated. Instead, there are metrics such as bytes received/sent per second, the network device speed, and outbound queue depth that can be used to determine if a network may possibly be saturated.
