This chapter covers the basics of users on HP-UX systems. Topics such as users, groups, permissions, Virtual Partitions (vPars) and users, and NIS are covered.
This chapter does not cover Common Desktop Environment (CDE) and GNU Network Object Model Environment (GNOME) as the previous edition of this book did. Both of these user interfaces are available for HP-UX, however, this book is clearly server-centric, and these user interfaces aren't used much on servers.
