Recognition – a Definition

A reinforcement of the contribution that a member of staff has made towards your company in terms of behaviour or services. By positively acknowledging this behaviour or service, you are hoping that it will be repeated or perpetuated. Recognition differs from reward in that it can often be nontangible, such as public thanks or congratulations.
