Physical Lighting Products
Lighting products for home systems include wall outlets, portable lamps, light fixtures, modules for controlling brightness, and automated window treatments for controlling natural light. In this section, the basic characteristics and physical features of lighting products are reviewed.
Power Outlets
Power outlets are designed to provide AC power to lights and other appliances located throughout a home. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has developed standards for the physical appearance of receptacles. Figure 5.4 shows the physical features and terminology for standard wall outlets.
