Recording an Audio Clip
One of the most common types of sound clips for a Web site is an audio welcome message. Such a message is very simple to record; all you need is a sound card and microphone. Just click Record and start talking into the microphone.
If you don’t already have a microphone, you can pick one up inexpensively at your local computer or office supply store. The microphone connects to the mic port on your sound card, typically color-coded with red or pink.
In this exercise, you will set your microphone’s volume level and then record a sound clip with Sound Recorder in Windows. If you do not have a sound card and a microphone for your computer, or are not working on a Windows XP computer, skip this exercise.
