Though the HTML5 specification is much more complex than previous versions, like those versions it includes definitions of new elements and deprecations of old elements. In this chapter I’m going to focus on the Elements section of the HTML5 specification.

I will start by showing how best practices have contributed to the evolution of HTML. Then I will cover many of the new tags included in the HTML5 specification: tags for creating new sections, grouping content, semantic markup, embedded content, new interactive content, and forms.
