What part does human factors play within chemical and process industries?

Abstract
The relevance of human factors to the chemical and process industries is discussed. The definition of human factors presented in the first chapter is used to illustrate the types of improvements that can be realized through the application of human factors. The current level of maturity of human factors within the industry is also considered to clarify areas requiring particular attention. This is discussed further in subsequent chapters in terms of why there is a need for this attention and how it can be approached.
