Management frameworks for human factors
J. Edmonds
Abstract
Human factors is a broad subject and it is often difficult to know where to start or how to manage it within an organization. It is preferable to implement a management framework to ensure that the organization is focused on tackling the areas that require consideration, but also to ensure that the human factors effort is achieving what it is intending to achieve. There is not a single definitive way of achieving this, but there are models of good practice which can be applied. Current best practice is reviewed to demonstrate how human factors can be done, done well and the means by which an organization can achieve “human factors maturity®”.
