This chapter discusses human factors in the design of work areas, that is, the general area where work is undertaken, and workstation/console design, that is, the workspace where activity of a specific nature is conducted. Work area and workspace design are both essential to ensure operator well-being, comfort, and efficiency, as well as reducing the potential for human error.
