Biomedical Applications of Electromagnetic Fields

Abstract

This chapter pertains to some examples of biomedical applications of electromagnetic fields. Some illustrative numerical results are given for the following. The transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), a noninvasive and painless technique, which has become a very important tool in diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, is modeled using a rigorous integral equation-based approach. Furthermore, a completely new concept in nerve fiber modeling based on the thin wire antenna approach is given.
