Who does HR work for? The straightforward answer is The Directors or senior management team. It is this group that provides the budget for HR to function and it is this group that pays HR salaries; they are the prime customer and should see the financial ROI on all HR activities.
It’s a key function of HR to improve the Managers and supervisors by providing techniques and processes to assist them to improve productivity and efficiency of their departments/teams. In doing so successfully, HR becomes the business partner.
