Developing an Evaluation Program
There is little consistency in performance evaluation systems across health care organizations. Some systems tie performance with pay, with yearly evaluations determining pay increases, bonuses, or both. At other agencies formal performance evaluation systems do not even exist. In many health care organizations collective bargaining agreements determine promotions and pay increases. In this environment, if evaluations exist they are used strictly as communication vehicles.
