Multiscale Fluid Flow and Transport in Organic-Rich Shale

Abstract

The chapter begins with a literature review on different techniques used for fluid flow and transport simulation in shale reservoirs. Next, a multicontinuum approach is explained in more detail and new formulations developed based on this approach for single-phase gas transport in multiscale pore structure of shale are presented. The discussion is extended to matrix and fracture interactions. Then, two-phase coexistence of fluid in shale reservoirs is considered and techniques to measure interfacial tension and capillary pressure and wettability are presented.
