It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

One of the keys to understanding how the IBM Cognos BI solution functions is to apply a hierarchical perspective on everything you do: setting up folders, applying security, formatting reports, and so on.
IBM Cognos Report Studio is no exception to the rule. The IBM Cognos Framework Manager model is created for use hierarchically. The report specification is stored in XML format, which is hierarchical. This chapter looks at how we can take advantage of this nature in designing reports.
