Introduction
Choosing the direction for this book was a challenge. The direction for the first book was clear, as Cognos 8 was brand new and no one had ever written a general user guide. Because IBM Cognos 10 consists of completely new functionality mixed with enhancements to existing functionality, we had some interesting choices to make. Should we rewrite the entire book? No, that was a bad idea since so much of the core functionality in Cognos 10 came from Cognos 8. So what do we add, what do we remove, what should be rewritten, and what can be left as is?
