Summary

In conclusion, we have reviewed IBM Cognos Framework Manager and how to use this robust tool to build a basic metadata model. We have looked at best practices for designing that model using a multitier approach, and we have walked through basic examples of what actions are performed at each level in the model. We have also looked at how to publish an existing model for end user consumption, and what the business case is for having a metadata modeling tool such as Cognos Framework Manager.

In the next chapter, we will look at administering and performance-tuning our Cognos BI environment.
