Sales and Profitability Analysis
Sales and distribution are “classic” areas for OLAP models. In this domain multidimensionality is obvious. You can intuitively identify dimensions like customers, products, regions, channels, and more and assign them to your sales and cost transactions. Hence it is very natural to model sales structures with OLAP. Also, the typical sales and profitability questions directly lead to multidimensional models and OLAP:
