10.13. Network security
Network security is a prevalent issue for system administrators. There is a great need for secure connections, trusted networks, and other ways of communications that do not allow for unauthorized system access. This section briefly describes some of the more common ways you can prevent unauthorized access to your systems over your networks.
10.13.1. Trusted and non-trusted processes
A trusted program, or trusted process, is a shell script, a daemon, or a program that meets a particular standard of security. These security standards are set and maintained by the U.S. Department of Defense, which also certifies some trusted programs.
