Chapter 10. Deployment

This chapter reviews the activities that are carried out in order to deploy the software products into the production environment. The activities are organized in a manner to ensure that deployed software products are available for users. Deployments mark the culmination of the software development effort.


The Deployment discipline describes three modes of product deployment:

  • The custom install
  • The shrink-wrapped product offering
  • Access to software over the Internet
