After you finish, you are again in the Paths panel and you see the result of your configuration.

14.9.2 Add paths
There are situations when you need to add additional paths to Metro Mirror:
򐂰 Getting more redundancy.
򐂰 Getting more bandwidth.
򐂰 Changing the ports you are using for Metro Mirror. With the GUI, you first must increase
the number of paths using the new ports. Only then can you delete the paths over the
ports you no longer want to use. You always have to be observant to make sure that you
have sufficient bandwidth for your applications.
On the Paths panel, select the correct Storage Complex, the correct Storage Unit, and your
source LSS. Now, you see the paths from your source LSS. See Figure 14-13 on page 163.

Select Create on the pull-down menu.

Select your source LSS and click Next. See Figure 14-14.

Select the Storage Complex, the Storage Unit, and your target LSS. See Figure 14-15 on
page 164. Click Next to proceed.

Select the additional ports for the additional path or paths. See Figure 14-16. Click Next to
proceed.

This panel allows you to create a Consistency Group between the LSSs. See Figure 14-18.
For information about Consistency Groups and how they work, see 12.4, “Consistency Group
function” on page 118. Click Next to proceed.

You can verify your selection and establish the path by clicking Finish. See Figure 14-19 on
page 166.
Note: For performance reasons, we recommend you use different ports from the ones you
are already using for the existing paths.
