Chapter 5. Using TotalStorage Productivity Center for Replication on Windows 2003 269
when the pair was created as well as the source and target volume information and the PPRC
pair status.
Figure 5-263 Volumes in a Copy Set
The hyper link Show under Copy Set within a Copy Set line does not reveal anything new in
the lower portion of the panel in Figure 5-263. The Copy Set Details repeats what the panel
already displays in the upper portion.
All this detailed information does not show anything about the related PPRC paths, although
a TSO CQUERY command does (see Example 5-54 on page 263).
This concludes the brief excursion about how to utilize the GUI when it comes to manage
Metro Mirror sessions.
5.4.13 Managing Metro Mirror session through the CSMCLI
Figure 5-264 on page 270 shows again the test environment which we will pursue and use for
the following scenario and create a Metro Mirror session through the CSMCLI interface.
We removed the MM1 session previously created before we continue to exercise the
CSMCLI approach to create the Metro Mirror session MM1 again.

Figure 5-264 Metro Mirror example with two copy sets
We chose to use only two copy sets to keep the test as such as simple as possible and focus
on the principle operation.
Create Metro Mirror session using CSMCLI commands
Example 5-56 shows a brief script with three CSMCLI commands:
1. List all defined sessions
2. Create a Metro Mirror session MM1 with Failover / Failback capability
3. Another list command to list all defined sessions
Example 5-56 Script “mksess.txt”
#
# Make MM1 session
# ----------------
lssess -l
mksess -cptype mmfofb -desc "create MM session MM1" MM1
lssess -l
# ----------------------------- end of script -------------------------------
Example 5-57 on page 271 displays what the script in Example 5-56 does.

Chapter 5. Using TotalStorage Productivity Center for Replication on Windows 2003 271
Example 5-57 Execute script “mksess.txt”
C:\Program Files\IBM\CSMCLI\CLI> csmcli -script mksess.txt
Name Status State Copy type Recoverable Copying Copy sets Error
================================================================================================
FC1 Normal Target Available Flash Copy Yes No 2 No
IWNR1021I [Dec 7, 2006 5:26:48 PM] Session MM1 was successfully created.
Name Status State Copy type Recoverable Copying Copy sets Error
==================================================================================================
FC1 Normal Target Available Flash Copy Yes No 2 No
MM1 Inactive Defined Metro Mirror Failover/Failback No No 0 No
Before the mksess command there is already a sessions defined, session FC1. Then the
script output acknowledges that the session MM1 was successfully created. A subsequent
lssess command confirms that the new session MM1 was successfully created.
Populate Metro Mirror session using CSMCLI commands
Example 5-58 displays a short script with six CSMCLI commands. The intention of this brief
script is to define two Copy Sets to Metro Mirror session MM1
1. List all defined sessions so far
2. Create a Copy Set within Metro Mirror session MM1
3. Create another Copy Set within Metro Mirror session MM1
4. List first Copy Set just defined before
5. List second Copy Set just defined before
6. List all defined sessions
Example 5-58 Script “mkcpset.txt”
#
# Add copy sets
# -------------
lssess -l
mkcpset -h1 ds8000:2107.20781:vol:9000 -h2 ds8000:2107.03461:vol:A000 MM1
mkcpset -h1 ds8000:2107.20781:vol:9001 -h2 ds8000:2107.03461:vol:A001 MM1
lspair -l -cpset ds8000:2107.20781:vol:9000 MM1
lspair -l -cpset ds8000:2107.20781:vol:9001 MM1

Example 5-59 shows the output when the script in Example 5-58 executes.
Example 5-59 Execute script “mkcpset.txt”
C:\Program Files\IBM\CSMCLI\CLI> csmcli -script mkcpset.txt
