Environment Stages

In this section, we describe in more detail the subenvironments listed earlier. We'll describe their purposes as well as describe some key aspects.

Development Environment

The development environment is where developers live and work every day; this is where developers work hard and need to be productive. Thus, they need the best tools and the fewest barriers to progress.

The ideal development environment for WebSphere is shown in Figure 16-2. This environment is composed of a number of development workstations (one for each developer), a source code management (SCM) tool, and an integration workstation.
