Application Deployment Considerations

Before discussing the mechanics of application installation and maintenance in WAS-ND, let's take a step back and look at some of the options available for application deployment. While WAS allows you to deploy a single enterprise application across multiple tiers with the web application in a one application server (or cluster) and the EJB components in another application server (or cluster), doing so is not recommended. Let's look at why this is the case by looking at such a deployment (illustrated in Figure 21-7).
