Base Application Server Administration
In Version 5, the architecture for WebSphere Application Server system management was redesigned. Every process in Version 5 contains an embedded JMX agent, the JMX MBeanServer component. For each process, additional administrative services are built around this central management component.
These Base management services are extended and leveraged to support multiple servers in the Network Deployment edition. A set of distributed management services are built on each other, and they provide the ability to monitor and control Application Server instances on remote nodes in the system.
