This chapter describes the hardware architecture of the IBM XIV Storage System Gen3 family. There are currently two models available for the Gen3: the newer Model 214 and the Model 114. This chapter covers the physical components for both models, including the system rack, Interface Modules, Data Modules, Management Modules, disk drives, network switches, and power distribution devices.
