Project: Rio Cello
Rio Cello is a classical music event that invades the streets of Rio de Janeiro with art, music, and dance. The music repertoire promotes the encounter between classical and popular, with concerts of contemporary cello, choro, jazz, tango, and rock music.
Rio Cello was created in 1994 by David Chew, a prominent English cellist living in Brazil, as a means of honoring Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, and bringing classical music to a wider audience.
