Early in the film a door opens and Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) scurries from his house with the faded red curtains and disappears through a bright red door to a church. Inside the church carpeted in red, this strange and timid boy and his small army of toy soldiers find momentary sanctuary. As Cole leaves, he snatches a red-robed statue of Jesus and stuffs it into his coat.
