Chapter 19. Acquire

In this chapter you’ll learn how to get images into an Illustrator document via the Open and Place commands; learn how to work with the Links and Control panels to edit, replace, locate, update, relink, and convert linked images; and also learn how to drag and drop images between applications.

Acquiring images

In Illustrator, you can open or import objects or images from other applications in a variety of formats, and incorporate them into your overall design. For instance, you could layer path type over a bitmap image for a book jacket or poster, or use a graphic as part of a logo or product label.
