DIVERGENT THINKING

Divergent thinking is a thought process used to generate creative ideas by exploring many possible solutions, as opposed to just a single solution. Many education systems train students to memorize and regurgitate information in a very standardized way; there is only one correct answer, and being wrong is penalized. The effects of this are hugely damaging to the creative process. Art is about risk-taking and being wrong; there are many ways to create something. I see a lot of people imagining just one way to make a picture, and then deciding it’s impossible and giving up.
