Cisco Collaboration solutions offer state-of-the-art facilities to reach people within and outside of organizations. As the communications networks evolve and expand, it becomes implicit (and sometimes imperative) that device-independent user addressing is available in the Collaboration solutions. As discussed in Chapter 4, “URI-Based Dial Plan for Multisite Deployments,” user addressing via Universal Resource Indicator (URI) is becoming the means for identifying everything in a collaboration network. In fact, when a user can reach another user or device by name, there is no need to remember the directory number (DN) of the called entity.
