It may be difficult to believe, but it was as late as 2006 that the industry leaders formed a mobile DTV alliance (MDTV alliance) to “foster the growth of mobile digital TV and accelerate DVB-H deployment in North America.”1 In fact, it was on January 23, 2006, just two years after DVB-H had set the NAB buzzing in 2004 and commercial trials had been completed across Europe that Intel, Modeo, Motorola, Nokia, and Texas Instruments put their weight behind DVB-H.
