Chapter 15. Systems Architecture Overview

We turn our attention now to the architecture of the systems underlying the business processes. When you are designing business processes, for the most part you are treating the “systems” as a single participant in the process. The only exceptions occur when the use of a specific system is mandated for specific activities. The focus of the business process is on determining what systems need to do in the process, not on their architecture and design. But to complete the implementation of the business process, you need to architect and then implement those systems.
