This glossary provides a subset of software testing terms as defined by ISTQB [ISTQB-Glossary]. Only the terms used in the book are provided in this glossary. The ISTQB testing glossary is used as a reference document for the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB) software testing qualification scheme.

The terms in this glossary are in alphabetical order. Some terms are preferred to other, synonymous ones. In this case, the entry for the synonymous term will be a reference to the preferred term. For example, completion criteria and exit criteria are synonymous, but exit criteria is the preferred term. You will therefore find “See exit criteria” at the entry for completion criteria.
