In previous chapters, I have argued that culturally specific and inclusive storytelling requires an embodied practice of screenwriting that reckons with the intersections of a character’s identity. I now extend this line of thinking to argue that world-building practices within screenwriting must be equally attentive to the specificity of location, along with the social, political, and historical environment, especially in terms of how context impacts particular characters within the story world.
