Introduction
Welcome to the InDesign CS4 Visual QuickStart Guide, my seventh version of the book. It’s exciting to see how quickly InDesign has become the primary application for desktop publishing and page layout. I feel very lucky to have been working with and teaching InDesign since its very first version. In fact, this is the only third-party book that has had editions for all seven versions of InDesign.
As the program has grown, so has the number of pages in the book. While the first version of the book came in just over 300 pages. Now, this version threatened to go over 600 pages—much too many for a Quick Start book!
