Chapter 44. Character Formatting
In this chapter, we’re beginning to consider the kinds of formatting which can be applied to text, and how that is done in InDesign. As in QuarkXPress, you can format text on a character level or a paragraph level. This chapter focuses on character-level formatting, including selecting such things as typeface, font size, type styling attributes, and so on. One big difference between the programs: InDesign treats leading as a character attribute, rather than as a paragraph attribute. Fortunately, we’ll tell you about a preference that can change that.
