Typically, a multitude of devices are connected to the IIoT Gateway and to the cloud as part of an IIoT solution. What makes network security a bigger challenge for IoT systems is the wide range of communication protocols, device protocols, and capabilities. While all the traditional security solutions, such as antivirus, malware, firewalls, and intrusion detection, need to be implemented at the endpoints, the focus is also on making these more efficient, given the large and complex network that they need to support, which may also potentially scale exponentially.
