22.2 Simple Regression

Minitab offers many options for modelling regression equations, some of which are incorporated in version 16. For simple regression equations (there is a single explanatory variable), the most used options are:

Consider again the data in file PULSE.MTW (containing the height and weight of 92 students) and transform them using the following conversion rules: one inch = 2.54 cm and 1 pound = 0.454 kg.

Specifically, to convert inches to centimetres, do: Calc > Calculator:

The data of height (in cms) appears with three decimal places, but they can be rounded using function Round within Calculator:

The function Round can also be used within an arithmetic expression. For instance, to get the weight in kilograms and with only one decimal place, do:
