Earlier, we visited the popular hagiography of Herb and Marion Sandler, and came to see why the Saturday Night Live satire of their business activities was closer to the truth (even if it ran off the rails with the “people who should be shot” subtitle). We only hinted at the Sandlers’ philanthropy, which has gone largely unnoticed, whether on late-night comedy shows or elsewhere. It is the one area where the Sandlers might appear bulletproof.
