In 1918, a chap by the name of Charles Riborg Mann published his findings from a study in engineering education. He concluded that success in this field was in fact not down to technical knowledge or skills, but was a result of the ability to communicate effectively.
Following his findings, Harvard University, Stanford Research and the Carnegie Foundation conducted further research and they concluded that 85% of career success is a result of well-developed people skills and only 15% is down to knowledge or technical skills.
