A major area of research that has been neglected is the interaction between survivability and security. Survivability and security have been usually studied separately. A system may be survivable under component failures but may make itself vulnerable to security attacks because of the restoration mechanisms employed. Also, automatic recovery from a security breach in wireless networks is not very well understood. Very few works exist in the literature that consider the two aspects together even for wired networks.
