Abstract:

This chapter discusses a relatively underreported area, information literacy activity in the workplace with a strong social and collaborative element, compared with the higher education environment with its reliance on standardised print and online resources. After reviewing the literature of workplace learning the chapter discusses skills development and employability in relation to information literacy and the role of higher education. How information literacy should be redefined for the workplace environment is analysed and the problems of information usage in the workplace are considered.
