8 Entity-Relationship Modeling
Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of entity-relationship (ER) modeling, then discusses Barker ER notation, information engineering notation, IDEF languages (especially IDEF1X), and compares these approaches with object-role modeling (ORM). Procedures for mapping ORM models to ER models are then discussed.
