Common modernization scenarios
The following scenario descriptions overview several sample modernization scenarios, why one would pursue such a scenario, and the benefits of performing that scenario. Subsequent chapters provide case study examples that show how these scenarios have been applied in practice. While there are many potential modernization scenarios, we have provided a brief list of the scenarios as depicted in Figure 4.1. In addition, we have added one additional scenario to address the issue of IT portfolio management, a goal that numerous organizations have established as a way of managing IT portfolios from a more strategic perspective.
